Energy transition in Cameroon by 2035

Led by Engineer Rodine Bakam, researcher and teacher in renewable energy at Euclid University, the conversation was insightful and engaging. Key takeaways included:

Cameroon’s vast natural resources, including solar energy capacity and hydropower, offer tremendous opportunities for renewable energy development.
The country’s reliance on hydroelectric power is expected to increase with the completion of a new hydroelectric power station, which will be the largest in Central Africa.
– Despite progress, significant challenges remain, including insufficient power to meet energy needs and a high dependence on fossil fuels, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions.
– Fortunately, the government has a national plan for renewable energy, promoting green energy initiatives such as solar panel construction in the north region, which has high solar potential. These initiatives not only support sustainable development but also create jobs and boost socioeconomic growth.

The webinar was a resounding success, with engaging audience interactions and thought-provoking questions. We’re excited to announce that a follow-up webinar is planned, focusing on Geothermal Energy, thanks to the generous offer of one of our participants to share her expertise.
