Day 5: 5 inspiring Cameroonian women in STEM you should know

Today, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of five trailblazing women in STEM from Cameroon:

  • Prof. Rose LEKE : a leading figure in medical research and a champion for global health. She is a renowned malariologist and Emeritus Professor of Immunology and Parasitology at the University of Yaoundé I. Prof. Leke has made significant contributions to the fight against malaria and polio, and she was awarded the UNESCO-L’Oréal Award for Women in Science in 2024. 
  • Dr. Agnès NTOUMBA – Celebrated for her innovative research on bio-insecticides, particularly an organic insecticide targeting female Anopheles mosquitoes, which are responsible for spreading malaria. She has been among the 20 laureates in sub-Saharan Africa in the “young talent” category of  “L’Oreal-Unesco 2020 for Women in Science International Prize.
  • Arielle KITIO – A tech innovator and advocate for digital literacy among young girls. She is the founder of Caysti, a center that trains young people in coding, and has been recognized in Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 list for her contributions to STEM education. 
  • Dr. Clotilde DJUIKEM – A distinguished researcher in mathematical sciences and a passionate advocate for the real-world applications of mathematics. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Manitoba, where she models the transmission of viral pathogens in Arctic fish species. She does an amazing on LinkedIn promoting mathematics applications and published a book dedicated to it. 
  • Pamela AZANFOUET – Founder of the Nkwangtech Foundation, dedicated to mentoring and encouraging young people in STEM. She is also a devOps engineer actively involved in community initiatives empowering women and youth in STEM fields.
